Of the 270 farmers who are members of the Cooperativa RAOS, 77 are women - and it is their coffee that comprises this fantastic lot. A majority of these women face gender-based legal issues regarding the ownership and management of their land and business, so by combining and marketing their coffee together, direct premiums are paid back to them in order to begin to address these inequities. Their coffee is fermented in air tight tanks before being washed, imparting mellow citrus up front with low acidity and a touch of tartness. The body is well-rounded and sweet with notes of baking spice and almond, and will be sure to leave you going for another cup.
